Chapter Eight

​Launching herself from the walkway built along the length of the outdoor movie screen, Elly's smile spread as she moved through the air. The force of what she did pressed against her, causing her cape to whip around her with the same snapping sound it made each time she did something like this. However, testing how gravity pushed against her was different this time compared to when she launched herself from the tallest buildings found throughout Ellyville. The walkway wasn't high enough to make her concerned about injuring herself or landing with enough force to leave a crater in the ground.

​Landing with her legs bent, Elly knew she appeared to take the typical stance a superhero did when they landed. She bent at the waist and pressed her fist against the ground in front of her while the backside of her body stuck out behind her. Head staring straight ahead.

​Hearing laughter which spread outwards from the darkness, Elly stared towards where she heard someone release their amusement. The longer she stared, the more she realized the feminine laughter came from a criminal who learned to use technology to keep themselves from being seen, or villain who learned to keep herself invisible or use the darkness to hide, or an arch-villain who gained better control over those same abilities or had ones a lesser villain hasn't mastered.

​“Show yourself.” Without moving from her pose, Elly continued to stare at the area where the laughter originated.

​Elly stood and rushed towards the figure once she saw Rylee step from the darkness she wrapped around herself. Before the villain said anything, Elly used her speed and strength to press herself against Rylee, riding the blond woman to the ground. Each kiss Elly landed kept Rylee from saying anything, and these also ended the laughter coming from the arch-villain when she watched what Elly did.

​“Did I amuse you?” Elly grinned after she paused in enjoying Rylee's soft lips. “I can't help it, you know? I get this urge to reach the highest places in town and throw myself from them.”

​“You did. I know. I have the pictures the newspaper printed of you doing this, plus the movies citizens have taken.”

​“Do you? How often do you look at them or watch me do this?”

​Rylee's smile grew as she felt the soft material as she ran her hands along the outside of Elly's costume. “I'm not sure if I want to tell you. It might make you think I'm obsessed with my superhero girlfriend.”

​“What's wrong with being obsessed with your superhero girlfriend? Isn't it the truth how those who use the darkness to hide their activities are obsessed with me? You can't tell me you're not the first to have images of me.”

​“True. Us villains trade our collector cards with each other. I have a rare one I'll never trade no matter how much someone might offer for it. The next time you see Skylar, ask her how many she's collected.”

​Elly shook her head as her laughter
